Chief Executive Officer, Comanche County Medical Center and CCMC Health System
Daniel Bonk joined Comanche County Medical Center (CCMC) Health System as Chief Executive Officer in September 2025, bringing more than 30 years of executive leadership across hospitals, health systems, and specialty care organizations.
Throughout his career, Dan has led healthcare organizations of all sizes—from critical access hospitals to multi-hospital systems—earning a reputation for transforming underperforming facilities into thriving, patient-centered organizations. He is known for his strategic vision, commitment to operational excellence, and focus on building strong relationships with physicians, staff, and the communities he serves.
Before joining CCMC, Dan served as Administrator for Methodist Surgery Center HCA and Methodist Health System in San Antonio, overseeing daily operations for an orthopedic surgery center generating $46 million in annual revenue. His previous roles include CEO of Bellville Medical Center in Texas, CEO of Nix Healthcare System in San Antonio, and CEO of Aspen Valley Hospital in Colorado, where he led multimillion-dollar facility expansions and helped earn national recognition for quality and performance. Earlier in his career, Dan served as Regional Executive Vice President for Aurora Healthcare in Wisconsin, managing four hospitals, multiple clinics, and thousands of employees.
Dan is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a certified Medical Compliance Officer, a published author, and an educator in healthcare leadership.
Outside of work, Dan’s personal story reflects his trademark resilience and determination. A former two-time state track champion and collegiate All-American, he overcame multiple spinal fusions—a challenge that shaped his “charge the storm” philosophy, inspired by the buffalo’s instinct to face storms head-on.
Dan and his wife of 31 years, Carrie, recently relocated to Comanche. Carrie is a pharmacist turned Christian counselor who also founded multiple charter schools in Wisconsin. Together they have two adult children and are excited to make Comanche their new home—building relationships and becoming active members of the community.
