Swing Bed and Short-Term Skilled Nursing Care

Short-term Skilled Nursing Care at Comanche County Medical Center

A Nursing Home Alternative

The CCMC Swing Bed program is a skilled care program, located in the hospital, in which a patient “swings” or transitions from acute care into skilled care. It is a Medicare program that provides extended care to those needing additional time to recover from an acute illness or surgery.

CCMC is a critical access hospital (CAH) fortunate to have CMS approval to provide this important program. The main goal of the CCMC Swing Bed program is to help patients return to better health, get back to a daily routine, and avoid hospital re-admission. Patients receive the same skilled level of care that is available at nursing homes or other skilled nursing facilities (SNFs).

Benefits

  • Excellent skilled care closer to home
