OIC Communications Supervisor

Scope/Impact

The OIC Supervisor directs actions toward supervision of prior authorizations, and scheduling of outpatient therapies.  The OIC Supervisor is also responsible for continuously supervising staff to ensure quality job performance, reviewing quality improvement monitoring, analyzing and evaluating patient care.

Job Functions

  1. Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  2. Provides leadership to promote effective performance and quality patient care to create an outstanding patient experience.
  3. Determines and ensures the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, demonstrated and improved on an ongoing basis.
  4. Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided.
  5. Responsible for the coordination of orientation, provision of in-service training and continuing education for all persons in the department.
  6. Evaluates unit policies, procedures and practices and recommends revisions as needed and on an annual basis.
  7. Maintains positive relationships with other departments and Medical Staff.
  8. Manages all supplies and equipment, supervises and schedules personnel on the units and promotes team efforts with physicians and personnel of other departments.
  9. Works with Administration to set and meet budgetary goals.

  12. Verifies availability of all supplies required for correct operation of the department.
  13. Provides and controls supplies and equipment needed for successful care.
  14. Plans, controls, direct, and coordinate administrative duties to ensure the functioning of the Departments and staff.
  15. Schedules and assigns staff to increase efficiency.
  16. Perform any other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
  17. Duties to also include prior authorizations and scheduling of outpatient therapies.

License(s) / Certification(s) / Registration(s)

Required:   Licensed Vocation Nurse licensed by the State of Texas, BLS required.

Education Required

Required:  Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.  High school diploma or equivalent.

Amount and Type of Experience

Preferred:   Five years’ Nursing experience required.
