Scope/Impact
The Nurse Tech demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations. He/ She performs delegated patient care tasks under the supervision of a licensed nurse. He/ She records data established by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse. The Nurse Tech is responsible for assigned non-nursing functions.
Job Functions
- Under supervision of nursing staff, assists in providing patient care and ensuring that each patient receives quality care.
- Taking patient’s weight.
- Recording of vital signs.
- Assist the nursing staff.
- Performs personal care according to requirements of patient.
- Keeps patient’s room neat and tidy at all times, patient dry and free from secretions and answers call lights in a prompt manner.
- Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
- Reports important facts or observations to Supervisor.
- Answers phone and assists as needed with coordination of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely records per policy and procedures.
- Abides by all legal compliance policies, procedures and programs of CCMC, including HIPAA, safety and any other local, state or federal regulations.
- Perform any other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
License(s) / Certification(s) / Registration(s)
Required: BCLS certification required
Preferred: Certified Nursing Aid certificate preferred.
Education Required
Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Amount and Type of Experience
Preferred: One year experience in a medical setting preferred.
Previous experience or basic Nursing Assistant course is preferred
