HIM Director

The H.I.M. Director performs the managerial functions of planning, directing, controlling, organizing, and staffing Health Information Management and Coding and Transcription Services. Is responsible for the maintenance of a health information system, responsive to the needs of the patients, Medical Staff, Administration, and personnel. Serves as a reference person to personnel and staff in matters regarding medical-legal issues and effective flow of patient information, the release of patient information, a compilation of information required by federal, state and accrediting agencies, and effective documentation of information. Responsible for coordination of HIM department to comply with any Federal/State guidelines. Director is responsible for planning, developing, and administering health information systems throughout the facility to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Also, the HIM Director acts as the HIPAA Privacy Officer for the facility and oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance, and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure the privacy of, and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws.
