Emergency Department Manager – RN

Comanche County Medical Center is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to serve as our Emergency Department Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced emergency nurse who is ready to lead a team while remaining connected to patient care.

The Emergency Department Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Emergency Department and plays a key role in our Trauma Program and Pediatric Readiness initiatives. Working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and Emergency Department Medical Director, this position promotes high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Emergency Department operations.
  • Lead, support, and develop ED nursing staff while promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Develop staffing schedules and ensure appropriate department coverage.
  • Monitor staff competencies, education, orientation, and ongoing training.
  • Coordinate trauma program activities, including clinical protocols, quality improvement, case review, trauma registry oversight, and required reporting.
  • Serve as the Emergency Department’s Pediatric Readiness Coordinator.
  • Coordinate pediatric readiness education, equipment, policies, procedures, and quality initiatives.
  • Monitor compliance with CMS, state, trauma designation, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, EMS agencies, regional partners, and other hospital departments.
  • Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a staff or charge nurse when needed to support patient care and department operations.
  • Participate in the rotating Nurse Administrator on Call schedule.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or higher
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hospital nursing experience, with emergency or critical care experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of management or leadership experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current TNCC certification
  • Current PALS or ENPC certification
