The second annual Diabetes Prevention Program starts Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Comanche County Medical Center (CCMC). The year-long lifestyle intervention program is based on the National Diabetes Prevention Program created in 2010. The program is evidence-based and cost-effective helping to prevent diabetes. It focuses on healthy eating and activity, helping participants cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by approximately 58% (71% for people over 60 years of age). Comanche County is fortunate to have such a program which is offered free to adults (over 18 years of age) who meet certain requirements. Participants commit to a weekly, one-hour session every Tuesday in one of two sessions, 2:00pm and 5:30pm. Both meetings are held in the CCMC Cafeteria Meeting Rooms. For more information and to register, call Rachel Hilliard, FNP, or Kerri Bill, LVN, at 254-879-4900, ext. 3651.
